Sounds like an attraction to give a wide berth to. I've not been there but from reading this I think I'll take another trip to Dover castle:

Judging by that report the Cutty Sark Trust have made a big mistake. I can understand the reason for the lift as getting disabled people to the lower decks might have been part of the grant procedure, but I am not saying it is right.

it is a very basic ship that was designed for speed, pity that they are trying to do a disney on it.

I like good, well done, modern interpretive displays but whether this is such a 'well done' display I will reserve judgement on until I have been to see it. There are many a purist who would keep the old 'dry' and, frankly boring, types of display and for all I know the writer may be one.

At one time I used to walk past the Cutty Sark twice a day on my way to and from work via the Greenwich foot tunnel.
The people in charge of this project ought to have had a look at the Vasa Museum in Stockholm, in my opinion the most stunning heritage attraction I have ever seen. I would go again to Stockholm just to visit the Vasa but I can't think of any heritage feature anywhere in the world which is as breathtaking. For example the Pyramids look better on postcards than they do in the flesh, and the Sphinx was a huge disappointment.

I certainly agree about the Vasa Peter; awesome is a very over-used word, but so apt in that case.
From reading that report, it does sound like it has had the history and authenticity taken out of it.

I think the word is Disneyfication, Roger.

Very interesting report on Breakfast this morning, the pictures shown give me a very different view and I saw nothing wrong.

There is a link below to the Vasa Museum. I was not aware of it so took myself off for a look-see. I filled-out their questionnaire, which popped up way too soon. So if you go, click on 'The Ship' first. I first took a look at the photographs from visitors and that was largely a waste of time...

Jan in post 9 that was exactly what I thought I had read some reports which , in my opinion, gave a completley biased and slightly snearing view , I think the images I saw on the TV looked fantastic
