It was a well made and good adaption. Just a couple of niggles, how on earth Eddie Izzard survived the plane crash is beyond me, but hey ho. I also wasn't too struck on the triffids themselves - they looked as if they were wearing hoodies, some sort of post-modern satire there? The triffids in the BBC 1981 adaption were much more sinister as they looked much more convincing as plants, indeed they had been designed by a botanist.
As Paul says we have seen this post-apocalyptic stuff in London done a few times now. 28 Days Later practically borrowed scene for scene at the beginning from the 1981 adaption early in the film, and this new production resembled that of the new Survivors. Still, as the novel of Triffids predated all of them it would be unfair to accuse the new adaption of plundering other productions for inspiration as it's source material was there first.
Good stuff, 8/10. Will definitely tune in tonight,
