DCAL Plans more HOPE FOR HAYLEY !!!

After our recent carnival on July 4th where 10 year old progeria sufferer Hayley Okines was our honorary princess for the day. DCAL have decided to attempt a massive fundraiser in aid of Hayley.
On August bank holiday weekend starting on saturday 29th August and finishing on Monday 31st August DCAL committee, court members and carnival friends are going to be walking 80 miles to hayley's home town of Brighton.
We shall be starting our walk at 10.30am from pencester gardens and finsihing in Brighton on Monday afternoon. The sponsored walk will be very challenging for all of us but we are determined to do more for this wonderful, inspirational little girl and her family.
We shall also be collecting along the route.

The carnival day raffle raised £1000 for Hayley, and we hope to get at least £2000 from the walk. We realise what a tall order we have set ourselves, but our strength will come from knowing we are making a huge difference to Hayley and her family
I am also in discussion with the the manager of Chris Eubank, and we hope that Chris will be there to meet us at the end of our walk on the Monday.
We are also looking for someone to donate some Printed T-shirts for us that we can wear along the entire route, as well as 2 mini buses to store our supplies of water, collection buckets, food and camping gear. Ian...grass grows by the inches but dies by the feet. - 1 September 2009 09:1128361WELL THE WEARY TRIBE ARE HOME!!!!!! WE ALL MADE IT TO BRIGHTON IN ONE PIECE. To say that the whole event went without a hitch would be a lie, but we all pulled together, and made it to the end.
There are a number of people I would like to thank for this weekend, so here goes. Up until this weekend I didn't really know our Croc that well other than from Dover Forum and the River Watch, but I just have to say these few words
IAN! YOU ARE WITHOUT DOUBT A SHINING STAR. WITHOUT YOUR HELP, WE COULD NOT HAVE GOT THROUGH THE WEEKEND. I DON'T THINK ANY OF US WILL EVER BE ABLE TO THANK YOU ENOUGH FOR EVERYTHING YOU DID. FROM HELPING TO PUT UP TENTS, COOKING BACON AND EGG SANDWICHES, PUTTING UP WITH OUR CASUALTIES, HAVING TO DEAL WITH OUR DREAFUL SINGING, TO NAME BUT A FEW. The word THANK YOU is simply not enough to express our thanks to you. YOU WERE INCREDIBLE IN EVERY WAY !!!

I enjoyed it and I did'nt and I did, If you'd have seen me the next morning at work you would have thought i was dragged through a farm yard.
At the end of the weekend the only person that counted was the little lady you did the walk for, HAYLEY.
I hope every single penny goes to help make her life just that little bit more tolerable.
You also have to give her brother and sister a big 10 out of 10 for being fantastic.
