16:2832383Well done with getting those up Scotchie..yes have seen some of these in Deal as was over there last weekend. Always good to see anything that cheers the place up in general terms and something so colourful is always effective.

16:5032387Great photos.
Perhaps we could hire the artist to paint a mural of what a hospital would look like in Dover Town Centre....

20:3932415i rather liked the group of four at the top depicting the old bucket and spade days.
i used to love those old filthy postcards and the obscene cruet sets available for purchase in the days when we all went on holiday to places like clacton, jaywick, camber sands, leysdown and the like.

20:4132417And the fabulous "shaped" rock and old fashioned sweets. My teeth remember them to this day. The old double-entendre postcards were great.

22:5332440Thanks - the 4 + the boat are all on the front of the old Quarterdeck and look rather good. The artist of the smaller images is Penny Bearman:

13:3032469Artist Penny Bearman is doing a great job brightening up Deal seafront. She's also done a hoarding outside the former Strand pub/Blackhorse building.
Deal's former Woolies, however, is looking an absolute mess at the moment. Perhaps she could paint a big bright mural on the front of that building, until such time a major 'anchor' store takes its place there (not before time for that scruffy end of Deal precinct, either). Any news on that front, anyone? I've heard rumours of Argos, Aldi, Tesco Metro and Morrisons Local. Of course, Waitrose would do nicely!
Then let's hope she and other arty types start really turning their attentions to Dover.
Onwards and upwards!

19:2332558Andy, remember your posting many months ago? This is a partial result of your contribution. Penny Bearman is being funded to do this work from a project in conjunction with Deal Chamber, Deal TC, DDC & individual local businesses.

10:5132824Thanks Paul,
Penny Bearman's doing a great job in Deal. Long may it continue - how about a mural on the walls of the job centre in Queen Street and Woolies in the precinct? They are so depressing.
Nice to see things getting done though - onwards and upwards,
Andy
