20:1440620I have just heard that Dick Francis has died aged 89. sad loss. He was a great jockey and a great thriller writer - I love his books and remember his races fondly. RIP.

20:2640625Must agree with you Bern, I first read one of his books years ago at the tender age of about 8 as my grandfather was a fan, and I've been hooked ever since. Some of my copies are nearly as old as me and have been read, and reread with a lot of pleasure, and i will continue to read them for years to come, a true talent.

20:3440627i have never read any of his books, but listening to a brief resume of his life, he admitted very late on that his wife was responsible for a lot of his work.
they were married for 53 years, wonder why she kept so quiet?

00:0440644I think because she got fed up being asked, "are you married to that Dick Francis"? To which she would of course reply, "No, sorry, my husband's name is Richard". RIP DF

12:1540667Dick Francis was my late father's favourite author, he had all of his books, it was strange going through his effects when he passed on finding that many of his Dick Francis collection I had bought for him for christmas presents over the years. R.I.P Dick
