I'm very pleased to say that out of all the negativity that has happened (to me) recently, I have been able to produce a Spring edition of the Discover Dover leaflet - with a lot of help from Roger Knight at R.K. Graphics and his studio guys.
It is a full colour, glossy, 100 gsm leaflet that folds down to 1/3rd A4.
I've had 5,000 French Discover Dover leaflets printed for LD Lines; they are going on board their ships, in their Booking Halls in Dover and Boulogne and in many outlets in and around Boulogne - all designed to promote Dover, our historic sites and attractions, as well as the good businesses (shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants) here.
I've also had 5,000 English copies done, which will be given out at the cruise terminals, the Visitor Information Centre, all the businesses who have taken an entry in it and other outlets like the Discovery Centre and the Town and District Council offices.
This is the only tourism leaflet that combines good quality local businesses - shops, cafes, pubs, restaurants etc. with accommodation and the historic sites and attractions.
I've had no external funding this time round (probably wouldn't have got it with all the negativity and lies that have been circulating round), but I'm pleased to say that it has covered the cost and should help bring visitors from France (Boulogne area) as well as advise English speaking visitors to Dover, of all the things there are to see and do (historic sites wise) and the good shops, pubs cafes and restaurants here.
It is also the first (and only ?) one to include a tourist bus (and how to book it) to collect people from their hotel and take them round to all the sites here.
Another good news story for Dover.
Roger

Well done Roger.
I wonder why the Chamber don't do that sort of thing?

Thanks Guys.
I'll be distributing the leaflets round to the various outlets this week; Nick Stevens of LD Lines has collected some French ones for their ship(s) as well as some English ones.
I do hope they help - the VIC have said they are the most popular leaflets picked up by people - French and English, but they are still not supported by WCCTA, who have told me they don't want to mix tourism and business, which is silly and very wrong - the two are inextricably linked.
Oh well - upwards and onwards.
Roger
