And the proposed 10,000 or so houses mooted for Whitfield will only serve to benefit Canterbury too, creating a precedent for Whitfield to expand inland and focus ever more up the A2, rather than the town of its birth.
It will serve further to turn the real Dover down in the valley into an aching void, the hole in the heart of this frightening development doughnut.
Decent, affordable housing and redevelopment is utterly critical for Dover town centre, not its burgeoning Canterbury-facing satellite mega-village.
