Sad to learn that Doug has died .He and his late wife worked tireless over the Christmas Period encouraging residents to put on wonderful displays of Christmas Lights .Thousand was raised each year for Charity.Doug was famous in his Father Christmas outfit .The display of lights will carry on as usual this year .They were good friend and neighbours to many .

Doug and Carol was lovely people. I remember them from my days in the cubs and Dover rugby club.
Great loss God bless to them and love to the family.

They lived in Hawthorne Close River.

Their Hawthorne Close Christmas lights were part of the Xmas Events Calendar and brought a lot of joy to those who went to see them. The charity donations they received raised a lot of money for I think the Air Ambulance.

Doug I recall ran a kids football team (river colts) in the then Dover under 14 years league
I ran two teams in that league at that time .
Doug was always friendly
He was also later in life an active contributor in the local press
