As DBS Manager I had photographed all the upstairs of the buildings from Ladywell down to Townwall Street that needed working doing on them - repainting, new windows etc.

The worst two - number 10 King Street and the Best Kebab building in Cannon Street (the side wall and the floors above the shop) I had written to DDC Planning Department to ask them to invoke section 215 of the Town aned County planning act 1990, to force the Landlord to do it up. Needless to say..........................

The Gala Bingo building was in a pretty run-down state before it was refurbished and would have been on my list of people/businesses to contact, but the scaffolding went up and work started and they have made a lovely job of it.

I had written to the owner of the Best Kebab building asking them to do it up, but was sacked before that could be followed up; I was sacked before I could actually visit the rest of the owners of the buildings in Cannon Street and Biggin Street, so that won't be followed up either.

There's a lovely building at the bottom end of Biggin Street with a bear above the ground floor; that needs a little attention too and it would look really lovely.

All the properties in Castle Street that needed attention, I took the details and photos to David H as he is the Chairman of the Castle Street Society; I don't know if anything was done about them - any news/update David ?
