Trying to continue the postive vein of Keith, I agree totally, the results of these forums should be published. Moreover, the dates/times of the meetings should be publicised more. There should be a DTC contacts database for all the organisations likley to be interested in such meetings, and, specialist targetting dependent on the subject being discussed. Ergo, if the subject is unemployment, target the local recruitment agencies/job centre and get them to inform their members.
A bit of professionalism would go a long way towards making these events a bit more successful, and if that still didn't make them work, well, maybe it's because they aren't required.
However, I suspect the lack of communication and organisation is the real problem here.
