    Love them, or loathe the smoke and dirt that went with them, steam trains were very much part of everyday life for more than 130 years. Lets just keep it locally here, as there are a number of photograph`s in existance from all areas of Dover, which in many cases, show`s not just the train, but much more interesting for other`s, the background scenery, much of which has changed but as in the photograph above, still recognisable. The above picture was taken of a Merchant Navy class locomotive leaving the Marine station on 16 September 1950. A split screen Morris 1000 parked up.
