    I think that in the 50s and 60s there was a plan to start with a clean slate and remove all remains of WW2, leaving many of the repairable building demolished. It was all the rage then to build 'cheap' put them up fast concrete buildings and build for the future. You can't really blame anyone locally and nearly every bombed town did just the same !
