I have put some new postings on the Dover Loyalty Scheme section; please do visit the section as there are useful information emails there - public info as well as DLS.
If you have any comments about the emails, their content, or about the Scheme itself, please post on here or email me -

07:247404A repeat of the above message really - new info. on the Dover Loyalty Scheme section.
I do hope you read these postings, even if you don't feel it necessary to make a response. The whole point of the Scheme is to encourage people to shop in Dover, to support Dover businesses.
No one else is supporting them or promoting them - in the local papers, on the Loyalty Scheme web-site (www.doverloyaltyscheme.co.uk), on posters, in the Newsletters and the fortnightly articles.
Dover businesses need your support (and custom) and are happy to offer you a Loyalty Discount if you shop with them. Like everything, but especially Dover - use it or lose it.
A number of member-businesses have recently closed and quite simply it can only be because not enough people are using their services or buying from them.

10:247420Marek you'll get yer assets frozen in Iceland !
I see Roger has mentioned a number of member businesses closing recently..always sad to see businesses closing down. I note in this weeks Dover Express the sad tale of the demise of The Flagship in Snargate St. Killed off by the prolonged roadworks according to the owner.
This pub tried a different appraoch and I applauded them at the time, but in the end I never managed to get there. But I guess it was the same for everybody..nobody went. Use them or lose them as Roger says above.

10:587422The Rennaisance aka the Alma on Folkestone Rd opposite the Petrol garage is closed. There is a notice in the window that perhaps old Howard could read the next time he trudges into town to collect his over 85 yrs special fuel allowance cash and beer tokens from the GPO....hehe.
The good news is that at the other end of town the Jaggers chain is set to open at least another 2 shops.

They own Jaggards Hairdressers,Jaggers Boutique and Jaggers Wedding Dresses along the Lodon Rd by the Eagle Pub.I believe she is opening another (shoe) shop in Charlton Shopping Centre. It may be worth a trip to that end of town.

the renaissance pub has been repossessed.
a while back
they were told by the council that they needed a music licence.
the landlord reached the conclusion that he could not be bothered and closed it down.
later on it reopened, not sure whether officially.
now it seems that the locks have been changed.

20:037436The Renaissance as far as I know never had music, not even a juke box it was strictly a boozers pub.

11:167917Just to let you know that I have posted more entries about the Dover Loyalty Scheme, on the Loyalty Scheme section (where else ??); one or two are "Public Information" postings.
Please do take a look; without you taking up these Dover Loyalty Scheme offers or visiting the members, there is no scheme and eventually no Dover Town Centre shops.
