    email received this morning.

    Dear All

A planning application has been lodged for temporary use of land (for up to 52 weeks) to allow drilling of an exploratory borehole to test insitu coal measures for methane gas, including provision of drilling rigs and associated site compound

Location: Guston Court Farm, off Pineham Road, Guston, Dover, Kent CT15 5ES

This application is on the KCC website. (Please find attached application and advert)

Although the Guston application is of main concern to us here in Whitfield, there are similar applications for Eythorne and for Shepherdswell Parishes.

According to the application, All traffic movement for the site is to go along Archers Court Road and through Pineham. Guston Parish Council would welcome our support and a public meeting has been arranged for:

19th September at 7.30 at the Burgoyne Heights Community Centre.

This could be another Balcombe situation although the application stresses no Fracking at this stage, I am assuming this is to assess the comercial viability for Fracking to potentially take place at some time in the future.

The main concerns at the moment for the drilling application are access, noise and light pollution and environmental impact, especially bats at the church.

    With Kind Regards

    Jeff Goodsell

    Chairman Whitfield Parish Council
