Oh dear, a melancholy treatise on our hometown through a cosmopolitan American's eyes, courtesy of The New York Times:

We soooooo need to get our act together.
Andy
PS: reminds me of the time a few years back (when the town was, even then, far far better than now), when a nice American couple stopped me in the Market Square and asked where they could, since they were in the original, authentic town of Dover, go to eat a Dover Sole.
With a heavy heart I directed them to Dunkerleys in Deal (as nice as it is), leaving the pair aghast they you couldn't eat a fresh Dover Sole in the town of its name (this was pre-Cullin's Yard and many yonks before Dave Flynn's fine Allotment restaurant).
One of a million examples of the extended rot of dear old Dubris and its exhaustingly dragged-out cultural death-throes.
Come on everyone! Sort this out!
