The Town hall could be used ,could attract cruise liner passengers and the fee could go towards them being maintained & anything over go towards the maintainance of the Town hall and if DTC do their usual stonewalling then maybe Mr Watkins you could ask them to review their positions very seriously ,They are not exactly the Dover folks fav ppl

Much as we all would like to see them I cannot think of a building in the centre of the town available to house the pictures. If one can be found then staff will be required year round to take admission money , security and extra insurance.

I cannot see Thanet Leisure allowing the general public in on a daily basis, usually they just do set pre-arranged events.

The public can go in now most days and they get a cup of tea,It is open to the public now unless there is a event on.

I'm glad Paul has joined the discussion,he and I worked hard to keep investment and interest going for the Musuem.Sadly not everyone shares our passion.I was glad he kept me as a lead member for the Musuem. For some works of art the insurance is high .It has to be carefully considered. You need staff to keep a watchful eye at all times.

If the good ppl of Dover wants to see their treasures then they have that right especially as they are paying for the upkeep ,it shouldn't be for the selected few .Im sure there would be many ppl that would volunteer their time in exchange for a cuppa and a biccy

Viewing areas I can think of, public areas at all council offices, libraries, museums, schools and as previously mentioned Town Halls.
If there is the will a way could be found.
If the paintings of long past dignitaries were sold that could pay for restoration work on those more interesting paintings of Dover past that are left, therefore self financing.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Maybe Reg should start more threads as 30 posts in under 24 hours is impressive and the subject matter interesting.

It will need both councils to see this happen lets hope they can work it out. Also to go on show is the Gold, one is the gold mace and chain of office and the glass vase,s etc very old and worth alot of cash and it is right that the public can see all of it and get to know the history behind them. Thank you, will ever happen?I would like to think it would but ------ well lets hope it does and soon, and again a big thank you goes out to Mr Barrington who got it all started.

I like that he shows the reality with damaged leaves and wilted petals, not the Chelsea flower show unobtainable perfect vision of, though Camelias have probably never been shown at Chelsea!
