From one extreme to the other. From the east cliffs of Langdon the other day, I spent the morning and lunchtime on a clifftop walk at the western end from Aycliffe along the Saxon way towards Capel and back. Another very hot and hazy day, but the fog started rolling in, making it a bit cooler and very pleasant. A rich variety of wild plants and butterflies, the likes of which I haven`t seen for many years down this way. As the fog got thicker, it was facinating watching it billowing up the cliffs on an air current like there was a giant kettle below on the boil, then curling over the top, and dissipating into the air above. A number of swifts or swallows, zooming about all over the place. So much life there to be enjoyed. And Aycliffe estate, like some little village hamlet in the distance, about to be immersed in a blanket of fog. And this is your Dover.
