Was taught to drive by my father in a 3litre Austin Westminster on the runways of what was Westonzoyland Airport.
Never had any paid-for lessons.
Sat first test just after 17 th birthday.
FAILED for speeding in 30mph limit.
Sat again a couple of weeks later and passed.
Dad eventually sold the car when it started using more oil than petrol!
Lovely motor. All black. Once lost a police PANDA car which was chasing me by turning off all lights, dropping down a gear to increase acceleration and when out of sight turning down country lane and turning engine off.
Can still remember the sound of his engine whining as he chased a non existant maniac towards Minehead.
Never told my Dad.
