  I remember reading that back in October and yes Canterbury is a big city with a Cathedral. tourists and a university but even then with their great catchment area they would be hard put to make it a success. The Whitefriars development is perfectly situated next to the bus station and park n ride and has an excellent array of shops, restaurants, pubs and even a market.
  
  The success there has meant that previously busy parts of the city are busy no more and no doubt Whitefriars will suffer from the novelty value of the new development.There is little enthusiasm for this from the residents in the main and the idea of student accommodation with no parking seems rather out dated.
