Dubris today

the whole affair seems a serious betrayal of trust.
i would urge everyone not to buy the paper in sympathy with the victims financial loss. - 19 March 2009 19:3117738The Dubris column today had a different look about it, a different personality you might say. Yes saw the item about Vic and if all true well its a pity but Im afraid Vic is not doing himself any favours. He is playing with fire dealing in the ruthless arena of a national tabloid and the whole episode, which he forever seeks to prolong, has decidedly killed any chance he might have had at any kind of re-election success.
His behaviour is very erratic lately. He tell us he has quit this forum...when people do that I normally delete them from the membership, as playing the quitting card then not quitting then quitting is generally seen as just messing other members about. No sooner has he quit then he posts again. Sorry Vic but that's what you said and Paul was not mistaken. I think a lot of us breathed a sigh of relief to be honest.
My personal view is that your silly stories about both Status Quo and you being the king of River are very very childish.
YOU made the mistake about Francis Rossi - You and only YOU. Why should we be ridiculed because of what you did?
And you are NOT the king of River - for goodness sake grow up man. What you are is a resident of Dover and if you genuinely thought anything of your town you wouldn't do what you're doing to it.
A joke is a joke but your so called humour just isn't funny, specially from a man of your age, and one who tells everyone he's a councillor.
Paul if I were in your shoes I know what I would do .......... but I'm not unfortunately.

On VIC I'm afraid I cannot support your comments, we have all warned VIC on the political side of the signs that as a politician his days are probably numbered, but at the end of the day it's up to VIC whether or not he should stand.
VIC will always be Vic, and will always bring a little humour to what can sometimes be seen as a very serious forum, and although like other posters(yourself included)I have commented upon and sometimes even disagreed.
That is what the forum is all about.
I think its wrong to attack one individual for what you say he may be harming the town, because if we took your line that could be said of all 45 District Cllrs County Cllrs etc etc.
Me, I prefer to have a laugh, post and comment/disagree when the need arises and value and support the right for people to post as long as it doesn't offend.

Annoyance with childish things is understandable, but I guess I expect us to manage that annoyance in a grown up way. There are other far more toxic posters and councillors, some of whom mask lack of talent and lack of sense of humour with bravado, noise and umbrage. I know what I prefer.

Jacqui is NOT leaving, she was QUOTING Vics original comment where he stated that he(Vic) was leaving...which Vic had oddly denied in the earlier post above.
Vic can be good fun but I think he has shifted lately into the bizarre and my feeling is he is perpetually trying to catch the attention of the Dubris column with everything he writes.
Last week he irritated other members by a daft King of River thing in the middle of a serious discussion. I asked him at that point to keep the frivolity to the relevent threads...after which he promptly issue the "Im quitting" statement.

20 March 2009 16:3717774reading the dover express today was quite depressing,what with the cost of the windfarm inquiry etc,i looked forward to reading dubris to cheer me no such luck evan more depressed after reading that and the letters page,so carried on only to find more doom and gloom so in the end i gave up had a nice cuppa and some lunch,feel a little better know.

There was also a story on page two about the business support body that I believe should be started - so not all doom and gloom.

About the Dubris column it is only fun so they tell us,yes I have been in it alot and I do not mind that, if it makes the public smile that ok with me but must say at times like this week what it said about me was below the belt I have nothing togain myself by seeing my name in it.

there are rumours that the DOE are causing problems with the intended screen, i really hope that these are just rumours.
