Nuclear power stations do stay radioactive for a long time. They should be built on something solid that is going to last. Dungeness is just a bank of shingle that has built up over several hundred years with tide and wave action. It is slowly being washed along the coast. Ever since the first power station was built a fleet of lorries have been busy taking shingle from the south side and putting it back on the north side. It seem mad to me to build yet another one, with possible rising sea levels to contend with as well. If Michael Howard wants to create jobs he should suggets they be created by taking apart the old power station and putting it somewhere safer.
