I read an interesting article on here yesterday, regarding a German author living over here, and writing a book on football between our two nation`s. Apparently, he tells us, that the germans would prefer us to win over most other countries in Europe, but they do not quite understand all the 1966 hysteria which we over here always bring up. ( We being the empty heads of the media?). On the other hand, if they see a dodgy goal in their country, maybe not over the line, but given all the same, they call it a wembley goal. Anyway, I do hope we win today, but in the event we don`t, I hope Germany wins the rest of their matches, and as a consolation, they`ll be a drink for any forumite on here, as it`s my sweepstake team at the White Horse. And on that subject, I`d like to mention that I`m only in there once or twice a week, but I`m not a drinker as such, but have found it a very quiet pleasant place to natter to other`s (incl rare forumite`s), and have an odd drink or two.
