Andy I thought that particular move by the FA was the most bizarre move in business terms that Ive ever heard of, and said so at the time. Offering a new contract before the initial contract had delivered, well that seems a very odd way to do business. Cleary these guys at the FA are ex-footballers or something and dont operate in the real world of business..much like many of our politicians it must be said.

Perhaps they thought England were going to win the World Cup and that if they had done so, the FA might have had trouble holding on to dear old Fabio. Whatever the reason anyway to sign a contract before the World Cup, in June in fact, is/was totally bananas. Yes it could be a very expensive mistake...but then these high flying super salaried earners dont know the value of money.
