    I am afraid you are a little bit wrong Chris the smoking ban is the main reason why pubs have closed. It has always been accepted that beer prices increase in every budget and the average licensee although not liking it put up with it. Cheap supermarket booze has been with us a long time and had very little impact on the trade, people still liked to visit their local.
    It was an ill-conceived piece of legislation that has cost hundreds of jobs.
