    Yes, "Forties Street" was a superb evocation of wartime Dover and the most popular area amongst visitors to the White Cliffs Experience.

    Sealed bids were invited and it went to Plymouth for a derisory £10,000 - a fraction of what it must have cost to create. "We got it for a song" as they put it.

    It is a great loss that it was not re-erected somewhere else in Dover when the WCE closed as it would have been a major attraction in its own right.
