In fact the marketing brochures highlight the short distance to drive into town or the station. £34m could have been spent connecting the district and improving bus services for people who haven't just moved to the area and can't afford the latest Range Rover.
Oh, I'm sure we all have great ideas about how to spend £34m. Personally I'd prefer the parks to be improved and permanently staffed, better recreational facilities (particularly for children), and the streets to be kept clean. The thing is, that's a completely pointless argument. The funding for Fast Track is for new infrastructure to support new housing. If people don't want new infrastructure, fine.
Also, do the developments at Whitfield and Old Park have no social and affordable housing elements involved? Because I'm not sure how many first time buyers are driving Range Rovers.
Ultimately, it's a bus route for thousands of new houses. The disruption will temporary. It's really not that bad an idea.
