Mein gott, a very interesting piece in a current magazine. Five Afghan soldiers were shot dead by German soldiers in error after refusing to stop in an unmarked vehicle. Would have been undreamed of not too long ago. I didn`t even know the Germans were out in Afghanistan with us. Would have been interesting if they`d shot Brits. The start of world war three? This time we`ll join the Germans? Velly interlesting.

Nice one Howard. I think maybe as I`ve grown up on a diet of war books, war films, war documentaries and we British always talking about the war, that it seems strange in a way to see the Germans shooting people again. Something maybe only the older generation would understand?

Its only been a matter of months since the head of the German army was forced by their parliament to resign after his troops were responible for the deaths of allied forces, the called in artillery support and gave incorrect co ordinates.
I hope they didn't blow up Italain soldiers, because they would have been busy surrendering anyway.

The Germans have been in the 'Ghan since the start but are kept in the safer areas and not in the South where the main fighting is.

You`re right of course Vic, and it has diversed somewhat to my original idea, but the original idea was #3, whereby how times change, and the Germans are now part of us and participating in normal role`s like the rest of us. I did read also that some German soldier`s have also sadly been killed. I personally don`t think the war jokes will ever go away.

Talking about Afghanistan, I read in the Mail on Sunday 11 April 2010 that a Taliban who the British Marines hda captured as he was planting a mine near their base, was later handed over by them to the Afghan police, as is regulation, but that they later released him. The British only found out by chance because two Marines were court-martialled for hitting the siad Taliban with a wellington-bot and sacked from the Army. As the military court wanted to hear the taliban bloke, they contacted the Afghan police, and found out they had released him.
The meaning of this is that the Adghan police are probably releasing all Taliban members, only the British Army and their allies either don't know it, or the governments in the West don't want us to know!
We should get our soldiers out of Afghanistan on the double, we don't need to bother if their women wear blankets over thei faces or not, it's their business, and I personally don't even want to see their faces!!!
