I'm sorry to say that the big screen has been the cause for one outdoor event changing in format. Every year DDC used to hold an outdoor children's film event in Connaught Park, free to local residents, and always packed out. This year the free film is being screened on the Big TV in Market Square and I think will be a much poorer event as a result. I'm not at all convinced that the event will have the same atmosphere - Market Square on a Saturday night is a place I generally avoid like the plague, full of obnoxious oiks who've drunk too much........
For the record, the free film this year is Mamma Mia (tonight) and The Cannonball Run tomorrow night. I've a feeling this may never be the same event again.
