In the past month, diesel prices have risen by their highest margin this century and are now almost 12 pence per litre more expensive than petrol. High oil prices, breaking through the $125 mark, have also fuelled a near-record rise in petrol prices.

Wales recorded the highest diesel price at 124.7ppl. Yorkshire and Humberside still have the cheapest diesel at 123.4ppl.
Supermarket prices for unleaded also rose over the month by 3.9ppl to 110.7ppl. The gap between supermarket prices and the UK average for unleaded has increased to 1.9ppl.
Overseas prices have risen. The UK has the ninth highest unleaded price in Europe and the second highest diesel price.
