22:0412310the above company has cut off gas supplies to the ukraine.
initially this was not supposed to affect us, but things seem to have taken a turn for the worse.
nothing is now coming into western europe.
we are supposed to have some reserves in case of emergency, but does it take into account the massive amount we are all using at the moment.

08:0212320I think they were saying that 3% of Russian gas comes to Britain, but it could be a serious problem for Eastern European states - "do as I say, or we'll cut you off" I can hear it now

10:2612334I believe that up to 40% of German gas supplies comes via the Ukrainian pipeline, the French are also affected to a greater extent but I didn't catch the percentage. I feel sorry for the eastern europeans who must be suffering on a huge scale.

10:3612336It is a worrying trend.
The world affairs, not just Russia but Israel
and so many other places
Very worrying time.
But whilst it goes on people (some innocent) get killed and sadly some starve to death
VERY SAD

18:0712356The real problem with this is to do with gas prices. The UK is not very directly concerned with the shortages as we get gas from a number of sources, mostly still the North Sea, I heard Minister Ed Milliband saying such this morning on R4. But if shortages occur elsewhere then it will have the effect of driving prices of the commodity upwards. Thats how we could be hit, having to pay more for our gas. Just what we need right now.

18:3212360some distressing pictures coming out of eastern europe, they have winters with -20 c fairly normal in the balkans.
i thought it was more than 3% that we got from russia.
mr putin is still involved in many spheres of influence and power in modern russia, and is not a man to be trusted.
seems to have ice running through his veins.
