It is a bit of a shock to see crime figures among girls soar skywards. I am talking about the age group 10-17 and the latest firgures show that crime is up 25% in this group. 59,000 crimes were committed by girls in just one year.
Nobody is actually sure why, but many suggest its all down to the binge drinking culture. There are many girls now streetfighting with each other in a way never seen before, which is a bit of a shocking development, and previously unheard of, at this level anyway.
Once upon a time a bit of a tiff among girls would be met with a telling off by the local bobby, but as the crime has got more serious and as society has changed, and with the added influence of drink..the police now feel more obliged to prosecute. Quite right I suppose but no doubt this is why the figures are shooting up.
You also have of course the curse of the technology thief. Mobile Phones, Ipods, all seem legitimate targets...its almost a respected way to acquire your Ipod these days, and of course it adds to the crime figures. I dunno, where will it end?
Boys of course still committ more crimes overall but their trend is down. Girls however are on the up bigtime.

Twas on BBC this morning, Its fair to say since 24 hour licensing came in)(and before) more females can be seen the worse for wear.
Sad realy, cos it aint a nice sight.
But we shouldn't paint all youngsters with the same brush as iv indicated in other posts, but it is a worrying trend

the violence from youg ladies had been rising for a long time.
there was a documentary on the subject on the box about 7 years ago.
the scenes were disgusting, what our coppers on the late shifts(and paramedics) have to putup with is a blot on our
society.

the attacks on emergency services staff started during the riots of the early eighties.
keith
we have had many governments since then that have expressed their horror at the situtation.
when will anyone do anything about it?
we will probably have a change of regime next year of the year after.
nothing will be done though.

There is absolutely terrible footage tonight on the BBC News showing policemen being attacked by sickening morons after the football the other night. Rangers fans on the rampage. First coverage was by CCTV of policeman one (who was talking of the horrors on camera later) but the way they took him to the ground reminded me of animals on the kill in deepest Africa...and as soon as he was on the ground the pack struck with uncalled for savagery.
The second coverage was from someones mobile phone taken from within the melee of the attack on a second policeman. Look closely and you can see a long haired blonde girl sticking the boot in to the fallen officer.
What have we come too. Looking at this ...well its just unbelievable, as its not as if there is any point to it.
Sadly, those so inclined will get away with exactly as much as they are allowed to get away with. People need boundaries......we have none in place.

this was a difficult situation in manchester, rangers have a fanatical following.
the fact that the match was being held only 200 miles away, made sure that over 100,000 made the short trip from glasgow.
it was so easy for thugs to infiltrate the crowds and spoil the event.
a great effort by the burghers of manchester to produce a memorable occassion, sad they they were let down.

Very true posting Bern, we have no boundaries now, no one will say NO to anyone anymore, so toddlers, grow into childhood and adolescence doing exactly as they please - the worst part though, is the (apparant) hate these people have - so scary.
I know I've said it before but there was a film, I think in the 60s, called Lord of the Flies, about a group of school-age children on an island somewhere and how they changed into feral kids without any boundaries to guide them, or anyone telling them NO.
We have that situation now in many Towns around the Country.
Thank God we're in Dover.
Roger
Read the book - even scarier, and very recognisable.....

quite right keith, about the banning of violent patients, i mean.
i hear stories about GP's on late night calls taking a dog with them.
so many are subjected to assaults from drunks and druggies upon arrival.
some folk assume that they carry the hard stuff with them.
