  I once handed a wallet I found into the cop shop and later found myself being interrogated as to where the alleged cash it had apparently contained had gone and found myself being treated like a thief.... I thought why the hell did I bother on a second occasion I found a mobile phone on Pencester but couldn't had it in til the next day as I was getting a train to London and thought it best to hand it in at Dover the following day...I was then questioned at length as to why it took 24 hours for me to report it????? and one closing shot I passed over a very nice gold designer watch I found in the snow and went back to the old bill 3 months or so later to enquire if it had been claimed..."We 'av no record of a watch being handed in Sir are you sure it was this police station you handed into?"...allo allo.!!!!! Now I don't bother picking anything up but just leave it for someone else to find...sorry...but there it goes.
