08:0114211According to Sky News Labour MPs claim a "tearful and dewy eyed" Prime Minister called the Labour waverers into his Commons office one by one and pleaded with them to back the Government.
"If we lose this vote it will de-stabilise the Government and de-stabilise the markets," said the embattled Prime Minister, according to one MP who voted with the Tories despite the emotional appeal.
A weak PM resorting to using tears to get his way. That really does show desperation and we now really do have to ask about his capacity to continue and his mental health.

10:1614234Brian, yes Mrs T did shed a tear when she left no10 for the last time.
There is one other time when she is reported to have shed tears while in office. That was while she was writing handwritten letters to the bereaved of the Falklands War. No-one could accuse her of being weak as a result.
That is a very different thing to crying because you might lose a Commons vote on a new airport....using tears as a weapon to get your 'supporters' to vote for you - pathetic.
Here is Guidos take on it, in his usual style....

Note the bit at the end about Gordon wetting himself!

11:2514243I have not seen it in the papers keith, only online via politicshome.com on the Sky and Guido websites.
It must worry you that the media narrative has changed to 'inevitable defeat' and that the great clunking fist is being spoken about in the Westminst village as a tearful wuss who wets his pants on the way to a mental breakdown....

11:3114244He's probably been reading your posts here BarryW, they have the same effect on me. This aint news is it, just desperate nonsense recycling by desperate footsoldiers across the country no doubt. Your problem is that most people, sorry voters, dont take notice of this type of thing.

11:4714245One of the main problems with the whole of this political section, as I see it, is that if you don't consult the political websites you have no right to an opinion. The vast majority of the electorate, including myself, simply obtain our information from the media and how current government policy affects us, our opinions in the end dictate which political party is going to govern us.
All we seem to have on here is bar room chancellors quoting god knows how many websites at us and boring the pants off the average person.
I really couldn't care a less if Brown poops himself or Cameron is incontinent, I shall vote for whom I consider to be the best for my family and I.
In a nutshell i'm on your side Sid on this one.

22:4614293Thatchers tears of self pity found no answering sob from me, chaps!!
Tears are valid, but perhaps GB just had that horrible man-cold that my husband and son both have at the moment. Moist doesn't begin to describe it.

13:4014344Paul Gascoine built a career on crying in public.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

you are correct, politicians need to re engage
you should vote for whos going to the best for you
locally and nationally
thats why locally its always good to vote forsomeone you know
who lives in the ward
is capable of doing the job
that way cant go far wrong
Nationally the 2 main parties arealways likely to be there with the lib dems hopeful for a hung parlianment as its the onlyt way they will get any say.
politics is getting boring when on here only one side is seen
As a politician i engaged with local schools and others
in my present job i still continue to do same
its surprizing how much knowledge youth hason politics
they just get switched off by question time/despatch box they find it all boring
