by way of the Last Will and Testament of his now deceased government....
""""""""""""""
To my successors, I leave no money, only waste, debt and the deepest cuts of modern times.
To the young people of Britain, I leave one in five of you without work.
To pensioners, I bequeath you lower pensions. I reduced the value of pension funds by billions. I leave you working longer for less.
In 13 years, I have wasted the inheritance left to me.
Of the gold bullion my predecessors bequeathed me, I sold over 350 tonnes at the worst possible price.
I have spent and spent and spent again - and every man, woman and child will have £22,400 to pay for my profligacy.
I have taken your hard-earned money and wasted it. I lost £3 billion in benefit overpayments and paid the dead £10 million in tax credits.
I leave Britain a bigger deficit than France, Germany and Japan, greater than Greece, Italy and Portugal.
I leave 2.47 million of you without a job.
With more time I could have done more.
I leave no apology, no regret, no comfort, and not an ounce of contrition.
I leave you years of painful and difficult decisions.
This is my legacy to you.
Gordon Brown

That's kinda funny because it's all so true.

I suspect that Gordon Brown would have an answer for each and everyone of those little gems of your`s above Barry. And I bet I wouldn`t be able to understand them as clearly as I have your`s.
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

you seem to have missed a couple of things barry, probably an oversight.
winter fuel allowance for the elderly.
pension credit guarantee.
free t.v. licence for the over 75s.
free swimming and bus travel for elderly.
shorter waiting lists for hospital appointments.
choice of dates and hospitals for surgery.
more people working than at any time in our history.
i know you will say that many of the new jobs have gone to immigrants from the new europe, but your party has the same policy anyway.

Even the value of some of these is highly dubious, like the NHS matters and the Pension credit has created as many problems as it may have solved. As for more working - more immigrants working, and no the Conservative dont have the same policy, it was Labour who opened the floodgates.
I note that none of what you refer to is anything to do with wealth creation. The easiest thing in the world is to spend money, specially other people's. It is the one thing Labour are good at, the easy bit spending, until they bankrupt the country as they always do. They dont get much bang for the buck either.
The creation of wealth must come before the spending.
But surely creation of wealth is only for the super rich tax exiles? The rest of us can sit back and take our handouts? Isn't that how it works?

i was merely adding the other side of the story, creating some sort of balance.
i have never known a government that did not to good and bad things.
incidentally, on the subject of immigration filling jobs, david cameron has clearly stated that he will not make any changes on immigration from the new europe.

Howard - classic mis-representation, David Cameron cannot do anything about EU members in Eastern Europe simply because Labour did not take advantage of transitionary measures that were available at the time of accession. The opportunity has passed. He will be putting a cap on immigrants from outside the EU and will take advantage of transitionary measure for any new entrants.
The floodgates exist only in the bigoted minds of the gutter press. There are many really good safeguards around immigration as an entity - the problem arises when people fail to manage and administer it properly and then create unhelpful and inappropriate knee-jerk responses to appease the public outcry when the gutter press start to bellow and distort the facts to sell more papers.

It's the Sun reading knotted hankie brigade that get whipped up into a false frenzy by billionaire press barons whose grasp on reality can only be measured by their standing on the Rich List.

And baz has said many of the crfedits he hopes will disappear, thus if they do
many people will end up bk on the dole
short sighted or what
Bern/Marek, I can't believe you both deny that Britain has been swamped with immigrants in the last decade. Of course we need immigrants to ensure certain jobs get done, but the numbers allowed in have been far too masny for proper justification and assimilation. You'll both be telling us next that UK Plc doesn't have a deficit!!!
