  But surely it's the total lack of respect for ordinary people and their views that is so disgraceful and to apologise afterwards - for what he truly believes, shows the level of contempt he has for normal everyday people.
  
  It's not so much the error of leaving his microphone on Brian, it's the obvious contempt he has for anyone who has a different view to his bigoted ideas.
  
  If you are excusing what he said just because of leaving his mike on, you discount the fact that he doesn't like or value ordinary people and these are the ones he wants to vote for him.
