Well if 23rd April is not right for a bank holiday the why not the 11th November.
The 11th November would mean we could remember all those that gave their lives for this Country in the Morning on the correct day, then in the afternoon have celebrations and events for the children to celebrate the future.
I think in Australia and New Zealand I think they do this with ANZAC Day. They have a National Holiday with big parades in the morning and in the afternoon they have family and children's events to celebrate the future.
Just a thought, have a remainder of a happy St Georges Day.
