Just to let you know that The Dover Whitye Cliff Tours and boat Trips have open a cafe up in the Dover Marina I have used it myself and must say it is very good and does not cost a arm and aleg to eat there +you get a good view of the marina and out own Dover Tourist Guide is there you all know him "Horace,s" there is agood write up of him in the Dover Express this week.I also told Richard who runs the Tours about the Dover Forum and what it could do for him in geting more of the Dover Public and Tourist to come down to his spot in the Marina in the way of publicity as the forum goes out far beyond Dover.
We must not forget also that the forum needs a income to keep going, and it is up to us as members to help in anyway we can to get funding in for it,and the way it can be done is by talking more about it and telling local business how the forum could help them and unlike the papers they can also get feed backs from the forum about their own business.
So please help Richard and his Tours and his new cafe and take your familys on a all round tour they are good, and also tell Richard you found out about his business by seeing it on the forum and that it might be worth giveing Paul the Boss a ring .

I did the boat tour last year for the first time ever, and it was a very pleasant trip around the harbour, but the whole lot was spoilt by the irritating recording being played throughout, describing the sights, aimed more at five year old`s than adults. They need to get rid of that childish recording and start catering for grown up tourists who may want to be spoken to more sensibly. I`d be quite happy doing a few of these trips round the harbour, but until they get rid of that pathetic recorded voice talking, (or have they?), I shall avoid it, and I`m not alone. I used the cafe Vic mentions above for the first time during the landing craft weekend, and I was quite happy with the tea and the lady serving it. She was very busy there on her own.
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

I always try and support the local businesses both in Dover and here in Jersey. In fact the local pub have seen an increase in their takings thanks to my local support

To be honest Paul, I am ignorant here of the cost of running the forum, advertising etc. Are there any idea`s you can put forward to members, whereby they could promote the forum more? I`ve never really given it much thought. I think I mentioned to you in an email once, that I thought you ran it for your enjoyment, and never imagined costs were involved.

Paul,
I note that 'Sadly it doesnt run on fresh air.'
There are those however who claim it runs on hot air!

Are the Rolls Royce club aware of this forum and the many pictures displayed on here of their treasured motor vehicles? If not, why not?

How about sponsorship from the local NHS trust?
Just think of the number of nutters who you are keeping at their keyboards causing no annoyance to anyone else.
If it was not for Dover Forum how many more people would be walking round Dover talking to themselves or howling at the moon?

True Bob - in fact it was only the opportunity to put digit to key that kept me from standing on the roof right now baying at the neighbours and threatening to throw flapjacks at them.

Bob, an intended reference to Hank Williams?
Sid.

. I suspect that the reference go on slightly before the blessed Hank?
