The post you are reporting:
Just caught the news this evening of HMQ in New York speaking to the UN General Assembly. She is then off to visit Ground Zero to pay her respects, a visit to NY lasting 5 hours in all....
Apart from the sheer wonder about how a lady of her age is able still to keep up this pace it got me thinking about how lucky we are to have her.
Being a totally non-political head of State makes her unique, OK there are some other non-political heads of State, but none of them are the Queen of 16 members of the UN and head of the Commonwealth, representing 2bn people worldwide.
There simply can be no other person in the world that can command the international respect and status that she has.
How many people alive now knew Churchill and Eisenhower personally, who have sat and discussed great matters of State with them? None, I suspect, certainly not at the UN assembly...
How long will it be before another person addresses the UN assembly a second time, 53 years after the first occasion?
For 20 minutes our Queen commanded the world stage, listened to with respect, her speech which lasted only 5 minutes will be broacast in every country of the world.
What a great asset she is to this country, Her Maj, strutting her stuff.....
