just had a leaflet through the door advertising a clothing collection.
it is NOT a charity, it is a private business.
the leaflet is done cleverly, it claims very little but the pic and headline suggest environmental and third world benefits.
probably the same people that used to send around the bag and the leaflet that started "not everyone can afford new clothes".

Howard
these people need to be watched, as people do give out these bags expecting charities to benefit

We have had a few of them in this area. The genuine ones display a registered charity number, name of patron, a landline and usually a website address. When they arrive to collect the bags they have a van with logo and the driver / collector have ID. Report anything suspicious.

quite right jean, unfortunately a lot of older or immobile people, cannot take their things to a charity shop, and they tend not to read leaflets very closely.
i do not see an answer to the problem, as the leaflet i mentioned did not actually tell one untruth.
it was just gave an impression that they were do-gooders.
