DT1 it is in the Tory manifesto that they will make the Lords an elected chamber. They confess to having an issue with the religious mob that sit in there, but otherwise they are up for the change.

I might also direct your attention to the Labour Party manifesto of 1997 where they promised to reform the Lords and make it an elected chamber. 13 years on and they still haven't done it. Why? Because the snivelling spinning crooks want their own peerages. Try to deny it.

With regard to Her Majesty, I think nearly 60 years of experience in these matters makes her better qualified probably than any other living person in the country. Of course, some would prefer to throw out the baby with the bathwater, whilst not having a clue as to what to put in its place.

As for the Tories looking after themselves, you may be right. But, when I ran pub 30 odd years ago, I used employ staff who I could be sure were fiddling, on the sound basis that if they were working hard for themselves, they were woking hard for me. With careful management I managed a very successful pub, The Cauliflower Hotel, Howard may know of it.
