I doubt the Tories will reform anything, in much the same way that the Labour government have done nothing. Don't think for a second that I like 'New Labour' Sid, I think they're rubbish. I just won't be voting for a party that rely on a advertising campaign that places all effort in pointing out the falings of the current government but offers little in reform.

As for the Queen, I'm with Paine on this one

"There is something exceedingly ridiculous in the composition of monarchy; it first excludes a man from the means of information, yet empowers him to act in cases where the highest judgment is required."

And as for selfishness....er sorry I mean self-interest. There is still a myth about working hard and achievement, the remanence of the Protestant work ethic, that suggests you achieve, or are successful (something Tories measure in how much you earn). The truth is (and the Queen is a good example) that effort isn't always linked with achievement. So 'working hard for yourself' might be the exploiting the fact that it isn't in your own interest to work for 'what you are worth' i.e exploit the benefits system. It's basically the same mentality, but increased by the lack of self-determination the likes of the monarchy imply!
