  A bit cryptic there Barry, you are talking about the house of lords?
  
  Sid, I'm not saying you can't work your way up, just it is hardly a merit based society we live in. People like you should be congratulated on beating the system to which I refer. However to use an another example, how much effort (if even possible) would it take for you or I to make it to the house of Lords, to help make decisions for the country? How much effort did it take the hereditary peers?
  
  As for Paine, he uses reasonable arguments against monarchy, he was quite a good engineer too.
  
  If the Queen is so 'wise' due to her advisors, let's just have the advisors and get rid of her.
  
  I always raise the example of Prince Charles commenting on urban planning and architecture, probably the least qualified to do so, having never engaged with a town without 50 other people surrounding him.
  
  'Pub as the hub'...because you always pop to the local boozer Charles. It really is laughable!
