Another nice picture Paul, and much more interesting than anything Hollywood could ever produce. Is that their normal colour?

Oh gawd, baffled here. Might be a Meadow grasshopper as the females have short wings, but really not sure. Grasshoppers are really variable in colour, even amongst the same species, so you can't go by colour alone. Definitely a beauty though.
Eugh .

There is a feature about this variety of grasshopper in the Dover Express this week page 3. Its a common green grasshopper Omocestus Viridulus...but... the purple form of it. All that courtesy of the Dover Express.
Gosh we all posted at the same time saying the same thing!
Good shot Paul.

Thanks Paul - how I spotted him/her in the thousands that are on our lawn at the moment, I do not know... perhaps it was with fright over the combined harvester turning up in the field this morning !!
Been nice knowing you :)
What a really fab photo! Expertly taken and a real opportunity-moment well spotted! Thank you.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.
