An injured seaman was airlifted from the Liberian tanker Kouros just off Dover this afternoon. Having called up Dover coastguard a helicopter was dispatched to take the man to QEQM hospital in Margate. The whole exercise was carried smoothly and within an hour of calling up the man was safe in hospital - well done to all involved. I couldn't get any photos because unfortunately my camera doesn't focus that far away.
There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".

Excellent result. Just a pity we don't have a dedicated air-sea rescue unit locally any more, that would have cut the response time down even more.
