Nice finds Kath. A little internet searching tells me that the Cinque Ports Rifle Volunteers were formed in 1859 in response to renewed perceived threats from France. Sometime shortly prior to WW1 they were reformed as a Battalion of the Royal Sussex Regiment. Here is a snippet for you:
