sorry the picture is not very good, the sign outside says "amsterdam house hotel", this has been an eyesore since i can remember.
always been in a sorry state of repair, some rather odd people residing there and seems to have visits from the constabulary on a regular basis.
anyone driving past will think something along the lines of "if this is typical of a dover hotel maybe we should look elsewhere"

Wasn't that used as the transit accomodation in Folkestone Road for illegal immigrants back in the distant past?
Agreed they need to remove the 'Hotel' signage.

Perhaps they should get the guys working on the paper mill today to have a look at it

"Guys working on the paper mill today", surely a contradiction in terms. Or, perhaps you were being facetious Ray. In my old age I can't tell any more.
I'll just lay in my hole and go zudlewordle.

my point entirely john , you could have ploughed your savings in and come a cropper.
how is that fair?
there should be a comeback on lousy property owners so that they cannot blight the lives of others in their quest for a quick profit.

I agree with that Howard, but sadly it'll never be.
The Amsterdam House was used to grow cannabis a couple of years ago.
It's never been used as a proper hotel, not sure why Mr. Hankin put that sign up.
It does lower the tone in that part of Folksetone Road - which is a shame for everyone.

the whole stretch is depressing roger, that is why i get a bus into town instead of walking for ten minutes.
the mildmay was a four star hotel a few years back, now just a ruin with vegetation growing out of it.

The developers went bust on that one Howard, I suspect because the Banks wouldn't lend them the money to finish it, which if it was the case, was pretty stupid all round - everyone lost out, including us residents.
