Joint Western Heights Preservation Society and White Cliffs Countryside Partnership workday - Sunday 16th

  (Must be the even longer than my last topic heading!!)
  
  This Sunday we have the first of two winter work days where we will be working alongside the White Cliffs Countryside Partnership. We will be scrub clearing on the field above the garage on Military Road and will have a bonfire to burn what we cut (well anything that we can't take home and use for winter heating anyway ). Might be worth taking a few sausages for lunch
  
  We had two work days with WCCP last year and both were hugely successful with large inroads being made into the scrub on the first task and major clearance of the North Lines ditch on the second day. So both groups are really looking forward to getting together and pooling our resources.
  
  This month we will be meeting in the small car park above Clarendon on North Military Road at 10:30 instead of the usual meeting point

  The weather looks fine for sunday at the moment and we will have some good opportunities for pyromaniacs that can get our bonfire going for us !!

  a great success apparently with around 35 volunteers from the two organisations working away.

  That is very good,the way the UK is going at this time alot more work is going to be done by unpaid volunteers and we all have alot to thank them for,if they did not give up their own free time at weekends more of history sites like the Western Hights would be lost for ever.So well done to every one of you.

  Was hard work on the steep slippery cowpat covered hillside !!!
  
  I was only around for an hour or so this morning, but the amount of work done in that short time was impressive
