Indeed, well done to DDC for getting the funding for these Strategic Play Areas.
We have have turned this Priory Play Area over hundreds of times and unless the sources of the funding have a change of heart (less likely now with many big cuts on the way) in only funding Strategic play areas, then we will not be able to fund one within DDC or just using section 106 money.
It is true, as you say Keith, that there was (many years ago now) a large sum of money to help towards a Clarendon play area, but because there wasn't any concensus of exactly where it shold be, after a few years it was used elsewhere - I have no idea where though.
The section 106 money for Westmount has now been established (and restored).
It's not that the Priory area has been forgotten, indeed a lot of time and effort is now being used to help improve all aspects of the area, just that it will be difficult to get funding for play equipment, even if the Community Pay-Back team could be involved in providing the labour for improving the area.
