Yes with all the council cutbacks we must help where we can in keeping weeds and any old grass that grows in our own streets.
WHere it is safe to do ,we all can help in keeping our street where we live looking clear of the above.
And can be done at your own speed .There is a lot of weeds etc that grows at the side of the rds and pathways where we live so why not have ago at cleaning it up yourself if you are not working etc and have time on your hands. Others see you doing it they might help to.

Yes and I got the nursing home to tidy their grounds .Applecroft in Sanctuary Close.I now need to find out who owns the strip of Land beside their boundary, full of weeds .Maybe it's Sanctuary Housing ?
Local children cleaned the road signs.I no longer can go round cutting back weeds etc I have a job to keep my own garden tidy.

Like Sue my garden is more than enough for me although I do remove the weeds that grow out of the front wall onto the pavement. What I have noticed is that in roads where the houses have a large frontage weeds are left growing out of walls and in gutters.

Vic does a good job clearing up litter but I live on my own and it's enough to keep a roof over my head.No Land lord to do repairs.I hope to get my front porch painted soon but the poor old lawn needs replacing so it little improvements at a time.
When I moved here seventeen years ago I bought my home on a shared ownership.I have Seen my rent increase yearly ,and recently my family added up the improvements I have made over £16,000 ,the housing assoction only pay building insurance and collect my rent. One visit by them in seventeen years.I cannot afford to buy it outright.

I did not put this up so I get browne points for what I do or not do where I live .I done it to try to get some of the public if they can to try and keep where they live cleaner because the K.C/C. no longer come round and pull up weeds etc on the road sides and path ways.Thank you.

Alongside my house is an area of crazy paving that's owned by the Highways Dept. It is always a thriving nursery for weeds. I normally dose it with weedkiller twice during the summer.
Today, for the first time ever, the motorised weedkilling machine has sprayed it. Yippee!
In the past the man has told me that it's not the pavement and therefore not his job!

I had to contact KCC about the overgrown shrubs etc in Salisbury Road that were making it safer to walk on the other side of the road, it took them about 3 or 4 weeks to cut them back. I will be happy when something is done about the old sorting office it is a complete mess.

Had a look down Park Avenue earlier the vegetation sprouting everywhere makes it look like a scene from one of those post nuclear war films, just needs tumbleweed to make it complete.
