Dear forum members,
I would like to let you know about the planned unveiling of the Miners Statue on the Miners Way Trail at the entrance to Fowlmead Park.
To unveil the Statue we are organizing a Kent Area Mining Festival on 31st August 2009 at Fowlmead Park. We will be displaying exhibitions from all the Mining Communities of Kent, showing every aspect of Mining, from sinking the shafts, right through the ages to present day.
We are calling on all Mining Communities to bring their own pieces of Heritage to the exhibition and any person or organization wishing to take part or help with this Festival should contact me on
movetheminer@sky.com
We want to bring together all the Mining Communities, Miners and Miners family and friends for a day, to celebrate our Mining Heritage and to remind the good people of Kent just how important the Miners were in forming the heritage of the Towns and Villages in our corner of Kent. It is so very important not to forget our Mining history and it is hoped that this festival, with your help, will be a success and be an annual event.
Thank You
